Dr. Anil Kumar

Dr. Anil Kumar, a distinguished faculty member at UPES, was honored with the Governor's Award for Best Research in 2021 at the Raj Bhawan, Uttarakhand, Dehradun, by the Hon'ble Governor, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Gurmit Singh. This accolade recognizes his exceptional work on 'Semantic segmentation of PolSAR image data using advanced deep learning models.' Beyond his contributions at UPES, Dr. Kumar serves as a member of the WInSAR Executive Committee as Adjunct II, part of UNAVCO, and is a guest faculty member at IIRS, ISRO, Dehradun. Notably, he was selected as the Lead Speaker for the NISAR Science Workshop in 2015, conducted at SAC, ISRO Ahmedabad, and has served as the Principal Investigator for the Space Applications Center, ISRO.
