Dr. Rakesh Ranjan

Dr. Rakesh Ranjan is an Assistant Professor in School of Computer Science at UPES, Dehradun. He earned his Ph.D. from the National Institute of Technology Patna in 2024. He explored brain signal analysis and synthesis with signal denoising (Artifacts removal), and application to detection of different mental disorders, and healthcare applications during his PhD study. His ongoing research continues to advance the frontiers of biomedical engineering, focusing on innovations in mental health diagnostics, healthcare applications, and AI-driven projects. 

Before joining UPES, Dr. Ranjan has 1.5 years of teaching experience and 2 years of research experience. The details are as follows:

• Assistant Professor at CMR Engineering College, Hyderabad. (Nov.2016 – April 2018)
• Junior Research Fellow (JRF) at VNIT, Nagpur. (April-2018 - June-2019)
• Ph.D. Research Scholar at National Institute of Technology Patna. (July-2019 – June 2024) 

Biomedical Signal and Image Processing, Brain-Computer Interface, Time-Frequency analysis, pattern recognition, machine learning, computer-aided medical diagnosis, and healthcare applications. 

Dr. Ranjan’s teaching philosophy centers on creating a student-focused learning environment that emphasizes real-world applications and collaborative learning. By integrating hands-on projects, case studies, and industry-relevant examples, he bridges theory with practice. As an active researcher in cutting-edge fields, he inspires students to explore advanced technologies and pursue independent research, aiming for academic excellence and meaningful contributions. • Recipient of Post Graduate Scholarship from AICTE, India. (2014 – 2016)
• Qualified in GATE 2014. (94.85 Percentile) 

Dr. Rakesh Ranjan has been an active IEEE member. He is also associated with IEEE Signal Processing Society, IEEE Engineering Medicine and Biology Society, and IEEE Young Professionals Community. He was organized seven technical events under IEEE Signal Processing Society (SPS) Student Branch Chapter at NIT Patna. He was also actively associated in Technical Program Committee of a few international conferences at NIT Patna Campus: SoCTA-2019, AITA- 2021, ICCET-2023, and MAI-2023.
