Dr. Kumar Gaurav is a dedicated academician and researcher with a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from NIT Jamshedpur and M.Tech from NIT Patna. His expertise lies in reliability analysis of safety-critical systems, with a special focus on fault monitoring in nuclear power plants. His research contributions include developing an Intelligent Fault Monitoring Framework, integrating Fuzzy Fault Tree Analysis, and utilizing Neutrosophic logic with Petri Nets to enhance the reliability of safety-critical systems.
Dr. Gaurav brings extensive teaching experience, having guided students in Database Management Systems, Software Engineering, Software Quality Assurance and Software Project Management. His commitment to academic excellence and research-driven teaching fosters an innovative learning environment for students.
Work Experience
Dr. Kumar Gaurav has recently joined UPES as an Assistant Professor - Senior Scale in the School of Computer Science. Prior to this, he was associated with Amity University and BIT Mesra at Ranchi as an Assistant Professor for over six years.
He has also contributed significantly to research in reliability engineering and safety-critical system analysis, particularly in the nuclear power sector. His work has led to enhanced methodologies for fault detection, risk assessment and system reliability improvement.

Dr. Kumar Gaurav’s research spans multiple domains, including:
- Reliability Engineering and Safety-Critical Systems – Advanced fault monitoring frameworks for nuclear power plants.
- Deep Learning and Optimization Algorithms.
- Fuzzy Systems and Uncertainty Analysis – Integration of fuzzy logic with reliability engineering.
