Dr. Prashant Kumar Chaurasia

Dr. Prashant is highly respected as an expert in statistics. He has a strong knowledge of both the theory and practical applications of statistics and has made important contributions to areas like statistical modelling, data analysis, and probability. He is known for his clear teaching style and his passion for the subject, inspiring many students and researchers. His research is innovative and tackles real-world problems using advanced statistical methods. Professor Prashant's dedication to improving the field and his commitment to excellence have earned him great respect in the academic community. 

Dr. Prashant has held several academic positions across prestigious institutions. Before joining UPES, he served as an Assistant Professor in Agricultural Statistics at Narayan Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Gopal Narayan Singh University, Bihar. He also worked as a Guest Faculty Assistant Professor at Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi. Earlier, he contributed as a Tutor at Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, BHU, and as a Guest Faculty Assistant Professor in Medical Lab Technology at RGSC, BHU, Mirzapur. 

Dr. Prashant research primarily focuses on statistical inference, encompassing both classical and Bayesian approaches. He has made significant contributions to the development and application of statistical methods for drawing conclusions from data. His work also extends to sampling demography, where he applies statistical techniques to demographic data and population studies. Prashant has published several research papers and articles in renowned journals, showcasing his expertise in these areas. His research not only advances theoretical understanding but also provides practical solutions to real-world problems in statistics and demography. 

Dr. Prashant believes that it is his responsibility to create a learning environment that encourages and supports students. He uses a "flipped classroom" approach, where students read assigned sections from textbooks or other resources before class. In class, students take a short quiz based on what they’ve read. Instead of reviewing the quiz, it uses it as a foundation for activities where students work with real-world data and problems. This approach helps students move from basic to more advanced levels of understanding. 

Prashant teaches a wide range of subjects in statistics, covering both foundational and advanced topics. His courses include statistical inference, sampling methods, demography, quantitative techniques, business statistics, business research methods, optimization techniques, and agricultural statistics. He also offers advanced statistics courses, focusing on complex statistical models and methodologies. Its teaching approach combines theoretical concepts with practical applications, ensuring students gain a comprehensive understanding of the subject. His expertise spans various fields, enabling him to provide students with a well-rounded education in both general and specialized areas of statistics. 

Dr. Prashant has been recognized for his academic excellence, having qualified the NET in Population Studies. In 2023, he received the prestigious Young Scientist Award in Statistics at the 6th International Conference organized by ATDS in Ghaziabad, U.P., honouring his significant contributions to the field of statistics.
