Dr. Anjali Sonkariya

Dr. Anjali Sonkariya is an accomplished academician and researcher specializing in mathematics, optimization, and data science. She has a deep passion for leveraging mathematical principles to solve real-world business challenges. Dr. Sonkariya’s expertise lies in data envelopment analysis, Operations research and mathematical modelling. She has published research papers in reputed peer-reviewed journals and presented her work at international conferences. Additionally, her professional experience as a data scientist at Siemens Energy enabled her to deliver impactful data-driven insights, further enriching her academic endeavours. Currently, she teaches Business Mathematics, Research Methodology & Report Writing and Business Analytics integrating practical applications with conceptual learning to inspire students. 

Before joining UPES, Dr. Anjali Sonkariya was at Galgotias University, where she worked as an Assistant Professor, contributing to undergraduate education and academic development. During her Ph.D. journey, she also served as a Teaching Assistant for UG students at IIT Roorkee. She worked as a data scientist at Siemens Energy, where she contributed to key projects such as anomaly detection in salary data, inflation rate analysis, and total remuneration dashboards using Python and Tableau. Her blend of academic and professional expertise ensures her students benefit from a holistic understanding of theoretical and applied concepts.

Dr. Sonkariya’s teaching philosophy emphasizes active student engagement through problem-solving and real-world applications. Her goal is to foster analytical thinking and equip students with industry-relevant skills, preparing them to excel in their careers. Her case-based approach to teaching ensures that students develop critical thinking by solving authentic problems. 

Dr. Sonkariya teaches courses such as Business Mathematics, Business Analytics, Probability & Statistics, Engineering Mathematics, Linear Algebra and Research Methodology & Report Writing. Her teaching integrates both theoretical and practical aspects of mathematics and real-world applications empowering students to apply their learning to complex business scenarios. She also serves as a course coordinator for MBA programs, ensuring curriculum alignment with industry standards. 

Dr. Sonkariya has received recognition for her contributions to teaching and research. She is a recipient of the MHRD-Research Fellowship for undertaking her Ph.D. Additionally, Recipient of MHRD Central Sector Scholarship Scheme for University in 2013 and awarded "Balika Protsahan Kaksha 12" and "Gargi Puruskar Kaksha 10" for academic excellence.
