Work Experience

He has a decade of national and international experience, has worked in various countries including the USA, South Korea, India, and China for his professional endeavors. Before joining UPES, Dr. Gurav contributed as a Postdoctoral Associate at Texas State University, TX, USA. Additionally, Dr. Gurav held positions as an Assistant Professor and later as a Research Professor at Konkuk University in Seoul, South Korea. He also served as a Fastrack Young Scientist, funded by SERB in India. Furthermore, in his early career development, he fulfilled the role of a Postdoctoral Researcher at Nankai University in Tianjin, China.

Research Interests

He possesses extensive expertise in harnessing agriculture and food industry waste biomass, and by-products to produce microbial biodiesel, bioelectricity, bioplastics, exopolysaccharides, and biohydrogen. He has demonstrated proficiency in employing microbial, hydrogel, biochar, and self-activated carbon-based technologies for the remediation of organic contaminants and heavy metals. He  has pioneered the integration of bio-electrochemical systems for wastewater treatment and bioelectricity generation. He has devised a novel process for converting poultry feather biomass into the amino acid cocktail, serving as a potent growth promoter, and chitin biomass as an antifungal agent. He has also designed a biologically active pervious structure for stormwater runoff quality improvement.

Additionally, he received UGC-BSR and CSIR-SRF fellowships during his Ph.D. dissertation.
