Ankit Nayak

Dr. Ankit Nayak is a dedicated researcher and educator specializing in robotics, implant design, automation, CAD, and additive manufacturing. After his PhD, he served as an Assistant Professor at Banasthali Vidyapith and a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Hong Kong.

 After completing his PhD, Dr. Ankit Nayak served as an Assistant Professor at the School of Automation, Banasthali Vidyapith in Rajasthan from 2020 to 2022. In 2022, he joined the University of Hong Kong as a Postdoctoral Fellow. Since July 2024, he has been working as an Assistant Professor (SG) at UPES in Dehradun, India. 

CAD, Robotics, Automation, Additive Manufacturing 

Dr. Ankit Nayak's teaching philosophy focuses on making complex engineering concepts intuitive and accessible for his students. In his courses on robotics, additive manufacturing, and other engineering topics, he employs simulations, working models, mathematical frameworks, and programming to effectively bridge the gap between theory and practice. Dr. Nayak is dedicated to fostering students' understanding by connecting new material to real-world applications, helping them easily grasp and digest theoretical concepts. By introducing the latest advancements and promoting continuous exploration, he aims to inspire a lasting passion for lifelong learning and innovation in his students. 

Dr. Ankit Nayak teaches a range of courses to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, including Introduction to Robotics, Industrial and Service Robots,  Micro and Nano Robots, Advanced Robotics, Additive Manufacturing, and Manufacturing Science. These courses blend theoretical knowledge with practical skills, offering students a comprehensive understanding of robotics, nanotechnology, 3D printing, and manufacturing processes.  

Dr. Ankit Nayak has received several awards for his research and academic excellence. His PhD work earned him the D&M Proficiency Gold Medal Award for the best cross-disciplinary project. He also won best paper award at the CIMS 2020 conference for his research on 3D printing. Additionally, he was honoured with the Best Presentation Award at the PHENMA 2019 conference in Vietnam. Dr. Nayak achieved the top rank in his PhD coursework at IIITDM, Jabalpur, and completed the JENESYS-2017 program in Japan, further enhancing his international experience. 

Dr. Ankit Nayak is actively engaged in research and development, specifically in implementing automation in surgery, for which he has filed two U.S. patents. He collaborates with international startups and academic institutions to address existing research gaps. He is working on establishing a laboratory focused on computer-assisted surgery, including applications of artificial intelligence in computer-aided design (CAD) modeling.  

In his academic role, Dr. Nayak teaches courses on robotics and automation, emphasizing experiential learning through models and simulations. He is also involved in curriculum development and plans to introduce advanced courses in CAD/CAM, additive manufacturing, and electric vehicle technology, among other areas.
