30th May 2006 was a memorable day for the students, staff and management of UPES. It was the occasion of the second convocation of the University.
Lauding the University, Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.
Vice President of India said, "Your University has earned
a distinct place amongst institutions of the higher
education in the country, imparting quality education and
research in the key economic area of petroleum and
energy. I congratulate the entire Hydrocarbon fraternity
for their bening support to this university which is
creating top quality human resource dedicated to the
sprit of innovation and research to provide much needed
leadership to the ever expanding frontiers of the Oil,
Gas & Energy sector.".
Speaking to the students H.E. Shri Sudarshan Agarwal,
Governor of Uttrakhand said that he would expect the
students to raise the level of their competencies and
enhance the name of their institute, its teacher and
